ABBE L2 Certificate in Fire Sprinkler Installation (Residential)
Widening Eligibility
BAFSA is broadening the eligibility of the ABBE L2 Certificate in Fire Sprinkler Installation (Residential) qualification from 11th May 2026. This new eligibility criteria will allow L3 qualified plumbers the opportunity to access the programme. Certification will provide the candidate the opportunity to apply for an Industry Skillcard – Fire Sprinkler Installer (blue skilled worker card) providing their hold a CITB HSE Test Certificate.
To be eligible to enrol on the L2 Certificate in Fire Sprinkler Installation (Residential) a candidate must hold :
- 18 months fire sprinkler installer (residential) experience (within residential systems)
- An accredited Level 3 Plumbing Qualification Certificate
- BAFSA Principles & Practices Accredited CPD Certificate
A copy of the above certificates will be required at enrolment. Self certification of experience is required. Please note that a checkable CV may be required by the Course Tutor.

BAFSA ABBE L3 Inspection & Commissioning of Commerical Fire Sprinklers - ONLINE REFRESHER PROGRAMME
A new course opportunity - BAFSA ABBE L3 Inspection & Commissioning of Commercial Fire Sprinklers - ONLINE REFRESHER PROGRAMME.
Programme Purpose: This online programme provides for a comprehensive refresh of the subject matter contained in the parent course : ABBE L3 Award in Inspection & Commissioning of Commercial Fire Sprinklers.
Eligbility criteria: Candidates must have completed the ABBE Level 3 Inspection & Commissioning course but are yet to achieve a pass in the final exam.
Duration of programme: This programme is self paced with approximately 35 - 40 hours learning delivered through online modules. Candidates are able to access the modules at their convenience and are allowed six months on programme from the time of enrolment (Day 1).
As this a refresher programme, candidates may NOT need to complete every section in full.

BAFSA ABBE L3 Inspection & Commissioning Online Refresher Programme
BAFSA is to launch a new online ABBE L3 Inspection & Commissioning Refresher programme specifically for those who have completed the ABBE Level 3 Inspection & Commissioning course but who are yet to achieve a pass in the final exam.
The programme can be worked through at the candidates own pace within a six-month period. As a refresher programme, learners may NOT need to complete every section in full. The programme is designed with an indicative learning time of approx 35 hours.
The programme will be available from this e-portal later this month (May)

Edexcel are undertaking a full platform rebuild to strengthen reliability and improve the experience for customers and candidates. New FHC in High Rise & Full Hydraulic Sprinkler Design course to be developed
BAFSA is developing a new FHC Course in High Rise & Full Hydraulic Sprinkler Design for Non Storage Occupancies which will be available in September 2026.
This new course will relate to the classification of sprinkler systems and the design of pre-calculated commercial fire sprinkler systems in accordance with the LPC Rules inc BS EN 12845.
To deliver the learning outcomes, the course will address the knowledge and skills required to determine the sprinkler design in relation to the classifications, storage configurations, storage heights, system requirements, head spacing, pipework sizing and water supply configurations.
Course delivery: To commence September 2026 with remote learning through online virtual classroom consisting of one day per week over 10 weeks plus post course work.
Course Duration: Total Programme Time is 12 months to allow for submission of post course work.
Entrance criteria: Candidates shall have minimum criteria the following before they can be entered onto the course:
ABBE L5 Diploma in System Classification & Design of Pre-Calculated Commercial Fire Sprinkler Systems Level 5 course in Classification & Pre calculated design
Achieved LPCB Basic and Intermediate Competence review.
Certification: Successful completion of the 10 day course and post course work will lead will lead to a BAFSA Certificate.
